The place
The Sagrada Família's main body has five naves: central vaults reach 45 metres and side vaults reach 30 metres. Gaudí's columns branch like trees. The official booklets explain how the columns carry the weight of the vaults down to the foundations.
The Sagrada Família's crossing rises to 60 metres, where the main nave meets the transept. The apse vault reaches 75 metres above the floor. Every Sagrada Família vault height is a multiple of 7.5 metres.
The Sagrada Família's glass is bluer on the Nativity side for morning light; western windows are orange for evening light. The windows become lighter higher up. The central nave has clear glass at the top.
Plan around: an afternoon slot if you want the orange western windows.
